FAQs

Can CECT Cardiac detect coronary artery blockage?

Yes. When performed as CCTA, it can show plaque buildup and narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries and provide information about the location and extent of the abnormality.

Can it detect coronary artery plaque?

Yes. CCTA can visualize both calcified and non-calcified plaque in the coronary arteries, unlike a calcium-scoring examination, which specifically measures calcified plaque.

Can CECT Cardiac be performed for chest pain?

Yes. In selected patients with chest pain, particularly those assessed as having a lower or intermediate likelihood of coronary artery disease, CCTA may provide useful information about the coronary arteries. The appropriate test depends on the clinical assessment.

Should I inform the radiology team about my medications and medical conditions?

Yes. Inform the team about previous contrast reactions, kidney disease, allergies, heart-rhythm problems, pregnancy, diabetes, medications, and other relevant medical conditions. Also inform them if you take medicines that may affect heart rate or blood pressure.
