It can identify suspicious masses or abnormal tissue and help assess the local extent of suspected or known head-and-neck tumors. A definitive diagnosis of malignancy may require tissue sampling such as a biopsy.
Yes. Intravenous contrast is particularly useful for evaluating deep neck infections and abscesses, including their extent and relationship to surrounding structures.
Yes. Intravenous contrast enhances the major vessels included in the scan. However, CECT Lower Neck is not the same as CT Angiography (CTA) Neck. CTA uses dedicated arterial timing and reconstruction techniques when detailed assessment of the neck arteries is required.
