What is Hysterosalpingography (HSG) – Contrast?

Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is a contrast-enhanced X-ray examination of the uterus and fallopian tubes. A water-soluble iodinated contrast agent is gently injected through the cervix to evaluate the shape of the uterine cavity and determine whether the fallopian tubes are open.

Why is an HSG performed?
