LDCT Chest/Thorax is a low-dose CT examination that provides detailed imaging of the lungs and chest using reduced radiation exposure, primarily for lung cancer screening in eligible high-risk individuals and for detecting and monitoring pulmonary nodules and other lung abnormalities.

LDCT can detect small lung nodules and other abnormalities that may indicate lung cancer, sometimes before symptoms develop. A suspicious finding does not by itself confirm cancer and may require follow-up imaging or additional tests.
LDCT screening is generally recommended for people who meet specific age and smoking-history criteria established by applicable screening guidelines. Your doctor can determine whether screening is appropriate for you.
It can show various lung abnormalities associated with infection and inflammation, although LDCT performed specifically for screening is not intended to replace a diagnostic CT when detailed evaluation of symptoms is required.
Usually, no special preparation is required for a routine non-contrast LDCT chest examination. You may be asked to remove jewellery or other metallic objects from the chest area.
LDCT lung cancer screening is not routinely intended for children. CT in children is performed only when clinically justified and with age- and size-appropriate dose protocols.
