About the package:

The Antenatal Screening Package is an essential prenatal check-up that provides important insights into maternal and fetal well-being during pregnancy. It evaluates blood health, diabetes risk, thyroid function, blood group compatibility, urinary tract infections, immunity status, and other key markers. This package helps pregnant women detect potential issues such as infections, nutritional deficiencies, metabolic imbalances, or blood-related risks early. It supports timely medical intervention, safer pregnancy management, and reduces the likelihood of complications for both mother and baby.

FAQs

What is VDRL Serum used for?

VDRL (Venereal Disease Research Laboratory) is a screening blood test for syphilis, a bacterial infection. In pregnancy, it detects maternal syphilis so it can be treated with antibiotics early to prevent transmission to the baby.

What does Urine R/M (Routine/Microscopy) detect?

Urine Routine/Microscopy checks for urinary tract infections (bacteria, pus cells), protein (early sign of preeclampsia), sugar/glucose (diabetes clue), blood, casts, crystals, or other abnormalities that could indicate kidney issues or pregnancy complications.

What is the role of TSH in this package?

TSH (Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone) assesses thyroid function. Untreated hypothyroidism in pregnancy can impair fetal brain development, increase miscarriage risk, cause low birth weight, or lead to preeclampsia—early detection allows safe thyroid medication adjustment.

What does the CBC test check in pregnancy?

CBC (Complete Blood Count) measures hemoglobin (anemia), red blood cell count/size, white blood cells (infection/inflammation), and platelets (clotting ability).

Why test Blood Group ABO & Rh Factor?

It identifies the mother’s blood type and Rh status. If the mother is Rh-negative and the baby is Rh-positive, there’s a risk of Rh incompatibility (hemolytic disease of the newborn). Early knowledge allows preventive Rh immunoglobulin (Anti-D) injections to protect future pregnancies.

Why is this panel important for pregnant women?

This package screens for common, treatable issues early in pregnancy—anemia, diabetes risk, thyroid dysfunction, infections (syphilis), immunity gaps (rubella), urinary problems, and Rh incompatibility—that can harm the mother or baby if undetected.
