FAQs

Can MRA Renal evaluate both kidneys?

Yes. The examination can assess the arterial blood supply to both kidneys, including the main renal arteries and, when technically possible, their branches.

Do I need any preparation before MRA Renal?

Preparation depends on the imaging centre's protocol and may include fasting for a specified period. Inform the MRI team about kidney disease, previous contrast reactions, pregnancy or possible pregnancy, metallic implants, pacemakers, and other implanted medical devices.

Will I need additional tests after MRA Renal?

Depending on the findings, your doctor may recommend Doppler ultrasound, CT angiography, renal function tests, catheter angiography, or consultation with a nephrologist, vascular specialist, or interventional radiologist.

Who may need MRA Renal?

MRA Renal may be recommended for patients with suspected renal artery narrowing, difficult-to-control or unexplained high blood pressure, reduced kidney function, or other suspected abnormalities of the blood vessels supplying the kidneys.
