Why is contrast used during MRI Chest?

An intravenous gadolinium-based contrast agent can highlight areas of abnormal tissue enhancement and provide additional information about masses, tumors, inflammation, infection, lymph nodes, and vascular abnormalities.

Who may need MRI Chest – Contrast?

MRI Chest – Contrast may be recommended for patients with a suspected or known chest mass, enlarged lymph nodes, chest-wall abnormality, vascular concern, inflammation, infection, or an abnormality requiring detailed soft-tissue assessment.

Can MRI Chest – Contrast detect tumors or masses?

Yes. MRI can help identify and characterize chest-wall, mediastinal, and other soft-tissue masses, including their size, location, extent, and relationship with nearby structures. A biopsy may be required for definitive diagnosis.

Do I need any preparation before the examination?

Preparation depends on the imaging centre's protocol. Inform the MRI team about kidney disease, previous contrast reactions, pregnancy or possible pregnancy, metallic implants, pacemakers, or other implanted medical devices. Follow any specific fasting instructions provided.

Will I need additional tests after MRI Chest – Contrast?
