MRI LS SPINE WITH FLEXION & EXTENSION

This examination is performed to evaluate spinal instability, vertebral slippage (spondylolisthesis), abnormal spinal movement, position-related nerve compression, persistent lower back pain, postoperative spinal changes, and conditions not fully explained by routine MRI.

A routine MRI evaluates the spine in a neutral position, whereas MRI LS Spine with Flexion & Extension captures images during movement, helping identify dynamic abnormalities, instability, and changes in spinal alignment that may appear only during bending or extension.

The examination evaluates the lumbar and sacral vertebrae, intervertebral discs, spinal canal, nerve roots, ligaments, spinal alignment, and surrounding soft tissues during different positions.

Your doctor may recommend this examination if you have persistent back pain, suspected spinal instability, symptoms that worsen with movement, nerve-related symptoms, previous spine surgery, or unclear findings on a conventional MRI.
