What is a NCCT ORBIT CORONAL, AXIAL & SAGITTAL?

NCCT Orbit Coronal, Axial & Sagittal is a specialized non-contrast CT examination that provides detailed multiplanar imaging of the orbits, surrounding facial bones, and adjacent structures to evaluate fractures, foreign bodies, bony abnormalities, and other orbital conditions, supporting accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

FAQs

Can NCCT Orbit detect orbital fractures?

Yes. CT is particularly useful for identifying fractures of the orbital floor, medial wall, lateral wall, roof, and other surrounding facial bones, especially after trauma.

Can NCCT Orbit detect a foreign body in the eye socket?

Yes. CT can help detect and localize many intra-orbital foreign bodies, particularly radiopaque materials, and can provide information about their relationship with surrounding structures.

Will I need an MRI after NCCT Orbit?

Depending on the findings and clinical concern, your doctor may recommend MRI of the orbits or brain for more detailed evaluation of the optic nerve, muscles, soft tissues, or other structures that are not fully characterized by CT.

Do I need any preparation before NCCT Orbit?

Usually, no special preparation is required because intravenous contrast is not used. You may be asked to remove spectacles, jewellery, or other metallic objects around the head and face.
