What is a PROLACTIN SERUM?

Prolactin Serum is a blood test that measures the level of prolactin, a hormone produced mainly by the pituitary gland. Prolactin plays an important role in breast development and milk production and can influence reproductive function. The test is needed to investigate abnormal milk production, menstrual irregularities, infertility, reduced libido, or other symptoms that may indicate elevated or reduced prolactin levels or pituitary gland disorders.
