HbA1c GLYCOSYLATED HEMOGLOBIN is a blood examination that detects average blood sugar level in the patient over the past 2 to 3 months. It primarily measures haemoglobin percentage that has glucose attached to it. It is important to remember that, unlike a fasting blood glucose test which measures a patient's blood sugar level at a single point in time, an HbA1c test provides a more complete picture of blood sugar over the period of time.
If the result exceeds 5.7%, it could suggest prediabetes or diabetes. Your physician will interpret the finding and may suggest additional tests or treatments.
If you have diabetes, testing every 3–6 months is common. For general screening, once a year may be sufficient depending on your risk factors.
HbA1c test at home or your nearest location can be possible by collection of samples with home collection facility. The home collection facility enables you to get an HbA1c test near your preferred area or location and is convenient and easy.
Symptoms like increased hunger, blurred vision, slow healing of wounds, frequent infections, and numbness in hands or feet, excessive thirst, and fatigue may prompt an HbA1c test.
